Pregnancy and Birth Classes

Why choose birth classes at BabyLove?

  • Smaller class sizes
  • Interactive classes
  • Information you can trust
  • We help you give birth YOUR way…whatever that may mean!

For 50+ years, Lamaze has been the most trusted name in childbirth education. This is not the Lamaze your mother took. We no longer emphasize the memorization and practice of a dozen different breathing patterns. Instead, you learn a huge variety of tools and techniques to help you work with your body and your baby.

Confident Birth and Beyond (Lamaze); Cost $190

Offered as a 5 Week Series (6-9PM), a 6 Week Series (6:30-9PM), or as a Weekend Series (9AM-4PM two consecutive Saturdays)

Confident Birth and Beyond is a comprehensive, interactive childbirth preparation class that covers everything from pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and baby care. Taught by Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator Veronica Jacobsen, this class will help you feel more confident about your ability to give birth, allow you to discuss concerns, and ask questions in a caring atmosphere. Unlike Lamaze of the 1970s and newer birth “methods”, this class isn’t based on a rigid set of techniques. Instead, you will learn valuable skills and gain knowledge to give you the tools you’ll need to have a safe and healthy birth, as outlined by the Lamaze Healthy Birth Practices. Classes are limited in size to allow for enough time to address every family’s circumstances. You will learn:

  • Why and how your body changes through pregnancy

  • How labor starts
  • What to expect during labor and pushing
  • The role of support people in labor
  • Hands-on practice of comfort measures and coping techniques
  • Why, when, and how medical interventions are used, including pain medication
  • What the first few weeks postpartum will be like
  • Q and A about car seats
  • Basic information on how to take care of your baby
  • Getting breastfeeding off to a great start

All families will benefit from the practical advice and information to help them make choices they feel comfortable with. This class is suitable for families having a birth in any setting, be it home, hospital, or birth center, and having either doctors or midwives. Class fee includes all materials and handouts and covers the attendance of the mother and one support person (which can be a husband, partner, family member, or friend).

This class follows the criteria set forth by the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes.

Planning Your VBAC; Cost: $50

Held as a one night class

Did you know that the phrase, “Once a Cesarean, always a Cesarean” was totally made up by a physician over 100 years ago? Did you know that the majority of moms who have given birth by cesarean can and should be given the chance to have subsequent babies born vaginally?

This class covers the science and evidence on giving birth vaginally after previous cesareans, the barriers to obtaining a VBAC, and outlines what evidence shows is the best way to achieve a VBAC. You will leave this class prepared to discuss your preferences using facts and to take the steps that will make a vaginal birth much more likely.
